I'll go on polymarket on december 30th (the latest time where few "end of 2025" markets will have closed or resolved), and count how many markets show up when i type "AI". If there is some other tag i should type out bc you think the "AI" search tag will miss a bunch of AI markets, lmk and i can add a few strictly-ai-related tags.

At the moment (Jan 28) there are 45 AI markets.

  • Update 2025-12-11 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The count will be performed on December 30th, BEFORE end-of-year markets close (not after as originally stated in the description).

  • Update 2025-12-11 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator will use the search function (typing "AI") rather than navigating to a specific category/topic page on Polymarket, despite suggestions to use the tech/AI category page. The creator acknowledges Polymarket's topic categorization can be inconsistent.

  • Update 2025-12-11 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator will count markets by navigating to polymarket.com/tech and clicking the AI category, rather than using the search function to type "AI". This change addresses issues with search results including irrelevant markets (e.g., markets containing "AI" as a substring in unrelated words).

Search by "AI" today (December 11) gives 125 results.

It includes things like "What will Taylor Swift say on The Late Show on December 10?", because among many possible words offered as option, "AI" is included. I guess all of them will count as "markets about AI".

@MiguelLM keep in mind the resolution terms say that he will basically be checking after the end of year markets have all closed.

@prismatic that’s a good point

@prismatic wait no it’s the other way around?

Ill check on dec30, BEFORE this year s year end markets close

bought Ṁ100 YES

because it shouldnt be possible for markets like https://polymarket.com/event/highest-temperature-in-buenos-aires-on-december-13 to count just because Aires has string "AI" in it

@prismatic not sure bc they are sometimes bad at adding obvious topics to markets, sometimes they have topics that are basically the same thing but with diff names, etc. this is for future me to worry about

bought Ṁ150 YES

@Bayesian hmm ok. I would prefer stronger resolution terms, but for example like with this market https://polymarket.com/event/ipos-in-2025?tid=1765465830905. This currently counts as markets about AI, but the topic is something completely different, so I wouldn't classify it as such. Opinions on which way this would be classified?

@prismatic Hmm you’re right probably tech > AI is the way to go. I think there s cursed topics like AI vs Artificial Intelligence but pretty sure they all end up in the ai folder under tech. Prolly that’s a better bet

@prismatic so, basically this list:
Technology Odds & Predictions | Polymarket

It is funny. Different markets, but again 125. I wonder if they hide less relevant results above this number, or if it was a coincidence.

@MiguelLM no thats different still using the searchbar so still string matching results like the buenos aires market above. I'm talking about tech > AI

@prismatic I see 98 now. Thanks

those are some pretty stupid ranges by me
